Community Workshop #1

The first round of community workshops took place in December 2013 during the needs assessment phase of the planning process. These focused on familiarizing attendees with the project purpose, goals, scope, schedule, bicycle/pedestrian planning and design concepts. Strengths and weaknesses of the current bicycling and walking network were identified as well as opportunities for improvement. The dates and location of this first round of workshops were as follows:

Tuesday Dec 3: Siloam Springs City Hall - 4:30pm-6:00pm
Wednesday Dec 4: Arvest Ballpark - 11:30am - 1:30pm, 4:30pm-6:30pm
Wednesday Dec 11: Center of Non-Profits @ St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers (McAuley Hall) - 11:30am - 1:30pm, 4:30pm-6:30pm

Community Workshop #2

The second round of community workshops occured following development of the Draft Master Plan during the week of August 11th of 2014, providing an opportunity for public review and comment. The open house format included summary materials with supporting maps, a powerpoint presentation, and display boards highlighting infrastructure and programmatic recommendations. The project team facilitated the community workshops at the following times and locations:

Monday August 11: Bentonville Public Library - 4:00pm-7:00pm
Tuesday August 12: Fayetteville Public Library - 4:00pm-7:00pm
Thursday August 14: Siloam Springs City Hall (Board Room) - 4:00pm-7:00pm

Community Meetings

The project team attended community events or meetings in the 25 municipalities that have a population over 1,000. These events/meetings offered an opportunity for each community to communicate specific efforts, goals, and needs with the project team in addition to disseminating information about the Plan. Discussion covered existing conditions mapping, local and regional  network recommendations as well as bicycle/pedestrian related programming and education.
